Classic Andar Bahar isn’t the only flavour anymore. Evolution, Ezugi, and Pragmatic between them run 11 distinct variants, each with different round speeds, side bets, and house-edge profiles. Here’s which one to pick, and when.

Classic Andar Bahar

The version everyone learns first. Single deck, one joker, two piles, two main bets, 90-second rounds. Bahar pays 1:1; Andar pays 0.9:1; house edge 1.2% / 2.15% respectively. This is the variant with the cleanest math and the lowest variance โ€” recommended for first-time players and anyone running a strict bankroll strategy.

Studio availability is universal. Every site we recommend carries a Classic Andar Bahar table from at least one studio. Minimum bet typically โ‚น50; maximum on regular tables โ‚น50,000 (VIP rooms go up to โ‚น5 lakh).

Lightning Andar Bahar (Evolution)

Evolution’s premium variant. After bets close but before cards deal, the studio randomly assigns “lightning multipliers” of 5x to 100x to between 1 and 5 specific card ranks. If you win on a hand where the matching card is one of those lightning ranks, your win is multiplied. The expected value of a Bahar bet at Lightning is identical to Classic (1:1 average, slight edge reduction to compensate for the 1% “lightning fee” deducted from every bet), but the variance is much higher โ€” you’ll see more huge wins and more dry stretches.

House edge: 1.40% on Bahar (worse than Classic’s 1.20%, because of the lightning fee). Best for: entertainment-led play with a chunky bankroll. Don’t grind this for steady returns.

Andar Bahar OTT (Ezugi)

“OTT” stands for “One Touch” โ€” Ezugi’s brand for variants with a side-bet panel. Same Classic main game underneath, but 8 additional side bets are available: First 3 Andar/Bahar, Suit Match, Even/Odd, Total Cards Under 6, Last Card Colour, and two progressive side bets. House edges on these range from 2.8% (Even/Odd) to 24% (First 3) โ€” most are unfavourable.

Where OTT shines: the Even/Odd side bet is the only Andar Bahar side bet with a house edge under 5%. Pair it with main-bet Bahar and you get a hand-action profile that feels busier without ruinous EV cost.

Speed Andar Bahar (Pragmatic Live)

25-second rounds. Same Classic rules underneath, but the dealer skips the conversational lulls โ€” bets close 7 seconds after the joker shows, and the dealing is sharp. You can grind 90 to 120 hands an hour here, vs 35 to 50 at a Classic table. House edge is slightly worse (1.45% on Bahar) because Pragmatic skims a small “speed fee”.

Don’t sit at a Speed table if you have a discipline problem. The pace makes loss-chasing easier, and you can burn through a session bankroll in 25 minutes that would last you 80 minutes at a Classic table.

Super Andar Bahar (Pragmatic Live)

Classic + a layer of suit-based progressive bets. Side bet “Same Suit as Joker” pays 3.8:1 if the winning card matches both the rank AND suit of the joker. Probability ~22% of winning rounds (so ~10% of total rounds). House edge on the side bet 10 to 14% depending on table โ€” bad on its own but the variance is fun.

Worth it if you like sweating the suit on every reveal. Otherwise stick to Classic.

VIP Andar Bahar (Evolution)

Same rules as Classic but with three differences: โ‚น500 minimum bet, โ‚น5 lakh maximum bet, and a dedicated dealer who plays slower and chats with the players. There’s a single VIP Andar Bahar table per casino and it usually requires either a deposit history or an account-manager invitation to access.

Mathematically identical to Classic โ€” same edge, same payouts. The difference is purely UX. Worth playing if your stakes are โ‚น5K+ per round; pointless below that.

Bollywood Andar Bahar (Ezugi, limited)

Classic Andar Bahar with film-themed card faces instead of standard playing cards. The Ace of Spades is “Amitabh”, the King of Hearts is “SRK”, and so on. The mechanics are identical to Classic. Ezugi runs this table during festival weeks (Diwali, Holi) and on the occasional Saturday. Most of the year it doesn’t exist on the lobby.

Strictly a novelty. Same edge as Classic. The dealer commentary is genuinely fun.

3-Card Andar Bahar

The biggest mechanical departure. Three jokers are drawn at the start of the round instead of one. You bet on which side will show two matching jokers first. Payout is 3:1 on a winning bet, but the house edge balloons to 3.80% โ€” three times worse than Classic Andar Bahar.

This variant is popular with Hindi-speaking studios under the name “Teen Patti Bahar” (despite having nothing to do with Teen Patti). Avoid for strategy plays; sample it once for variety.

Andar Bahar Pro (Evolution, Asia-only)

Mostly available on Asia-region lobbies, occasionally appears on Indian sites. Same Classic rules plus 7 progressive jackpot side bets that pool across all Pro tables. The progressives can hit โ‚น50 lakh+. Probability of winning the top progressive: about 1 in 4 million.

The base Classic part has unchanged 1.20% edge. The progressives are entertainment value with a positive-EV path only if the jackpot is huge (a “must-hit-by” jackpot above its breakeven threshold). You’ll see this discussed in advantage-play forums.

Hindi Andar Bahar (all studios, 6 PM โ€“ 2 AM)

Not technically a distinct variant โ€” just Classic Andar Bahar with a Hindi-speaking dealer. All three studios (Evolution, Ezugi, Pragmatic) operate dedicated Hindi tables in this window. About 70% of Indian Andar Bahar volume happens on these tables.

RNG Andar Bahar

Software version with no live dealer. The “shuffle” is a software call between each round. Round duration: as fast as you click. House edge identical to Classic (1.20% / 2.15%).

RNG is fine for learning the rules and practicing bankroll discipline before sitting at a live table. Most players find the experience clinical and prefer the live version once they’ve learned the flow.

Which variant should you actually play?

If you’re new: Classic Andar Bahar. Cleanest math, slowest pace, lowest variance, biggest selection of tables across all three studios.

If you want entertainment value and have a chunky bankroll: Lightning Andar Bahar. The 100x multiplier rounds are addictive in a good way.

If you want to grind volume in a short session: Speed Andar Bahar. 90 to 120 hands an hour. Only do this with strong bankroll discipline.

If you want the Hindi-speaking experience: any Hindi table between 6 PM and 2 AM IST. Filter “Hindi” in the lobby of any recommended site.

Variants to skip unless you’re chasing novelty: 3-Card (3.8% edge is brutal), Bollywood (only available 4 weeks a year), Pro (the progressives are a tax unless the jackpot is huge).

FAQs

Does playing different variants improve my odds?

Only in the sense that Classic Andar Bahar has the lowest house edge of the live variants (1.20% on Bahar). Switching from Lightning (1.40%) to Classic saves 0.2 percentage points per round. Over โ‚น10 lakh of turnover, that’s about โ‚น2,000 in expected EV. Not life-changing but real.

Can I play multiple variants simultaneously?

Yes โ€” most live casino lobbies let you keep up to 4 tables open. Some players run Classic on one window and Lightning on another. Not recommended for strategy plays (you can’t attend to both tables properly) but fine for entertainment.

Why isn’t Bollywood Andar Bahar available right now?

Ezugi runs Bollywood Andar Bahar seasonally โ€” usually 3 to 4 weeks around major Indian festivals (Diwali, Holi, sometimes Independence Day). Outside those windows the table is offline. If you specifically want this variant, check Ezugi’s lobby in mid-October.

Is RNG Andar Bahar rigged?

On licensed providers (Evolution, Ezugi, Pragmatic, Microgaming), no. The RNG is certified by eCOGRA and audited regularly. On unlicensed or unknown providers, anything is possible. Only play RNG from licensed providers โ€” listed on the where to play page.

Which variant has the best minimum bet?

RNG Andar Bahar at โ‚น10. Live: Speed Andar Bahar at โ‚น50. VIP tables start at โ‚น500. Lightning at โ‚น100.
